After the session my clients usually say that I was sooo sweet and I take it as a compliment. :) I would like to say that I am laid back, relaxed, super patient and fun. :) My main goal is to take all your stress away during the session. Photo shoots don’t have to be stressful for the parents; especially the mom. I go with the flow; if your children are wild and running around I will follow them and capture these unique sweetly chaotic moments. I will encourage you to go and play with them and then maybe grab them and toss them around. That’s when we will get the most amazing candid family photos you will cherish forever. I want you to remember what your children were like at that moment, because a year later it can be totally different. My goal is to capture the real you, your emotions and connection you have with your loved ones.

Where and when will my session be held?

Most of my sessions take place outdoors. I have several top locations up my sleeve, but I add more throughout the year. My top picks are Red Wing Park, Greenbrier Farm, Virginia Beach Courthouse, Oak Grove Lake Park, and the list goes on and on. I travel outside Hampton Roads and to Williamsburg as well. I am open to my clients suggestions and wishes. You might have a location in your mind that is meaningful to your family and I am happy to discuss that. I shoot exclusively one hour before sunset (times shift depending on the season) that’s when your photos will look the best, the light is flattering and doesn’t leave harsh shadows on your face. Or your family session can take place in the comfort of your home. I love to include your sweet home to the photographs. These sessions usually happen in the morning hours when there is the most light in your house.

How long will my session be?

The good news is I am super quick! My sessions usually don’t last more than 60minutes. I know with children I have to be quick or I will loose their interest. On the other hand I will always keep shooting until I am sure that I have an awesome gallery for you. One hour is plenty of time to capture wonderful images, the hardest part is to choose the best ones later on. Please be respectful and arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled time.

How should I prepare my kids for the photo shoot?

Turn the photo shoot into family fun. These moments when you are all together are so precious. I promise you we will have fun during the session! Leave all the stress of every day life behind and just enjoy moments with your kiddos and husband while I create the memories for you. Grab their favorite snacks but leave them in the car as a treat after the session. Turn it into a day/half-day/afternoon trip! We will already be meeting in a great location so enjoy the exploring after the session, plan a family meal together at their favorite restaurant, or go for an adventure afterwards. You’re already all together and all dressed up so make this day a fun experience for them.

What should I wear?

Wardrobe choices… the most asked question. I am not gonna lie, your clothes are important and will make a big difference to the photos. That’s why I wrote a whole Blog post about what to wear to the session. I collected all the knowledge from the past years and put it into that article for you. I just want to mention again that you should feel yourself in the photos. You don’t have to purchase an expensive dress that you will never wear again or a new outfit for your husband that is not his style, even though you know he looks super handsome. Just be mindful about the colors and patterns; don’t pick super bright colors and shirts with large signs. Go for settled and earthy tones that are pleasing on the eyes.

Will I get digital photos or prints and when?

I pride myself in quick turnarounds. You will receive a link to your online gallery with downloadable images in the highest resolution within days after our session. I do not offer raw (unedited) files. Your gallery will be delivered within 2 weeks and you will order your prints directly from there. You have the option to order different size prints, canvases or metalic prints. The professional lab that offers an amazing quality of boutique products will then accept the order and will send your packages directly to your home.
