Why DON’T I offer client’s closet?

I am sure you have seen it before. Perfectly dressed family in the mountains surrounded by wildflower meadows. Mom in a long flowy dress, kids in neutral overalls, everyone looking just PERFECT. But do we really strive for perfection? Do family photos have to be perfect and flawless? It’s your choice!

You certainly can hire a photographer who will deliver such a gallery to you and there is nothing wrong with it! These photos are truly beautiful and I love looking at them. Would I want them for my family? No, thank you. I prefer connection over perfection.

My brand is essentially representing ME and my goal for my photos is to reflect my believes and to align with what is important for me personally.

Hey, I am Eva!

I am an aspiring minimalist who does not like shopping. I love getting rid of stuff which can be dangerous sometimes and my husband often can’t find what he needs. Clutter and chaos at home overwhelms me. Less is more! I think 3x before I purchase anything and then I usually return it anyway.

I am not good and looking up deals and I don’t want to spend my time online shopping or looking for gorgeous dresses in the area.

BUT I love connecting with gown rentals or I support sharing or passing over special clothes among friends. I grew up with my mom and my sister so we basically shared one closet. Except shoes, my feet are way too big! Lol

What to wear for your family session? I Virginia Beach

Don’t get me wrong, I want you to be your best selves at your session. I know you will do a great job picking your outfits and I am here to help you! I have written several blog posts about how to coordinate outfits, what to wear for maternity or newborn session etc. Clothes are important. Colors are super important, mixed fabrics, layers…. I personally advise each client and I have them share photos with me before the session.

When putting together your outfits follow these simple rules:

  1. Mom chooses first.

  2. Coordinate, not match everyone else (blue jeans and white shirts for everyone is a “no, no” in 2024).

  3. Avoid loud colors, patterns and logos.

  4. Don’t wear high heels if your session takes place in the nature or on the beach. Honestly, NO shoes is my favorite option.

  5. Choose clothes that allow movement.

  6. Combine textures and layers or wear a hat.

  7. Solid colors with one subtle pattern per family

  8. Earth, neutral, warm, off-white colors look great. Black or navy blues are not preferred.

Did you know what?! You can break any of these rules because these are YOUR photos!

The reasons WHY I do not offer client’s closet:

I want you to be yourselves. If that means you will be wearing a gown, go for it! I love that for you! If you wear denim on your cosy in-home session, I will 100% love that and support that! Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful and comfortable. How is it that you are. What will you wear in order to feel like the best version of yourself? Even if I do not offer client’s closet, outfits matter to me and make tremendous difference on the photos overall.

I do not want my clients to wear the same clothes. I just do not want to put my clients into the same box, everyone’s unique style matters to photos. And also I can’t imagine photographing the same outfit at the same location over and over again.

I do not want to hold on to clothes. As per my minimalism journey, this does not align with how I am.
